Ministry Update June 23, 2015

As I (Denise) get settled into life in the U.S.S, our ministry in Kenya to children & women continues under the leadership and supervision of Joanna, pastor Rose, Susan, Twyla, Wycliff, Shem, Collins and Tom.

The Kibera ladies weekly Bible Study is studying "What God's Word Says about Money" and the youth at St. Catherine's are completing the Mwanzo study. Please check out Joanna's blog at http://joanna5447.blogspot.com for regular updates and pictures. You can also follow NEW HOPE on our facebook page at  https://www.facebook.com/nhimkenya/.

The youth leaders upcountry are currently working on a Constitution for their ministry (New Life Youth Ministry) and hope to have the required paperwork submitted by year’s end. They have also been meeting to prepare for the Discipleship Youth Camp to be held December 10th to 14th.
Speaking of the December Youth Camp, we’re happy to report a donation from John Smyth for the purchase of t-shirts for the youth attending this year’s Camp. Thanks John for providing a great early Christmas gift for the kids!
During a recent New Hope Board meeting, the following financial requirements were identified to fully meet our ministry needs from July through Dec of 2015:
• Kibera ladies Bible study- $300 needed to help purchase study materials, make copies and provide meals & transportation for local leaders.
• Orphan & vulnerable children/families care- $2,000.00 still needed. This money goes towards a scholarship for a local University student (includes housing & travel) as well as medical care, food items and study materials for other qualified recipients.
• December 2015 Youth Camp- $2,367 still needed for the 5 day Camp for 50+ rural youth in southwest Kenya. New Hope covers a portion of cost for study materials, food & lodging as well as travel expenses and various related items.
If you who would like to financially help support the work being done in Kenya, you can private message me or send checks to NEW HOPE MINISTRY 1606 Shields Ferry rd. Morristown, TN 37814.
Much thanks & God bless!

The ladies Kibera Bible study group has been meeting weekly since 2012. This group ministers to women in Kibera that have leadership roles within their local churches. The group provides a safe place for them to grow in their personal relationship with God, meet & connect with other women and recharge their emotional & spiritual batteries. After completing 10 months of apprentice training the group is now being led by Pastor Rose, Susan and Joanna Cassidy Kelley.

New Hope has been facilitating discipleship training for the the kids at the St. Catherine Children's Home since 2012. Joanna Cassidy Kelley & Twyla Brickman continue meeting with the youth and are currently doing a study that was written by Twyla. These studies have had a positive impact on the youth and we have seen tremendous growth in spiritual, emotional & social health.

This picture of Bev, Wycliff & Collins was taken after last years Dec. Youth Camp. They are three of the founding members of New Life Youth Ministry that we partner with to help bring the Gospel & educational resources to children living in impoverished rural areas of Kenya. All three of these youth attended the discipleship camps/programs I co-lead from 2007 to 2011 and were inspired to "go and do the same". Love their passion!!
